Pastor Root moved to the Susanville area in 1990. He married Kim, a local girl, in May of 1992. Shortly after that they moved to Redding, CA and joined the ministry at Shasta Baptist Church. He was ordained, and God called him to start a church in Susanville.

 

     Highland Baptist Church was established February 2, 2003. He and his wife have been married for 30 years, they have 8 children. Highland Baptist Church began in the gymnasium at Meadowview School. God allowed the church to move to their present location at 801 Cottage St., in 2008.

      A radio program was started shortly after the church was established, and still continues every Sunday morning at 9AM on KSUE 1240AM. Later a bus ministry was started to pick up those that needed rides to church. Also, for the last 14 years there has been a ministry to
the inmates at the Lassen County Adult Detention Facility (Jail).
